Central Florida – In an effort to attract more single Hmong women to the state of Florida; one Florida resident has come up with an unusual idea. Dr. Na Nplooj Lee owns 200 acres in Palmetto, a city 20 miles south of Tampa and 10 miles east of Saint Petersburg, is offering his land for free. He has divided the property into two hundred, 1 acre single family lots. “I want to attract single Hmong women to Florida by offering free parcels of land and to help build the Hmong population in the area. There is a lot of single men in Florida but hardly any single women. I hope by attracting single women to Florida we see less Bromance and more PDA.”
He went to this years Florida Hmong New Year to take a pictures of single women and was sorely disappointed. That is when he got the idea for the free land.
The free land doesn’t come without conditions. A list of conditions include:
* Must be 18 years of age.
* Must buy mobile home or build on land
* Willing to date and marry any single man from Florida
* Have a child and stay married longer than 3 years
A temporary title will be issued until all conditions are met and a full title will be transferred to the family. There have been interests from California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The first wave of about 40 single women are expected to arrive in Florida on May 1st. “I’m excited to meet this first wave of Hmong single women,” says Larry Thao, a single Hmong man living in Florida. “I already have my days off from work planned with these girls.”
